Between 13–20 January Christie’s New York will present a selection of highlights from the London Post-War and Contemporary Art February auction season, charting the major achievements of British art over the past 50 years.
Works on view include Francis Bacon’s Two Figures, a self-portrait conjoined with a poignant tribute to his great muse and lover George Dyer. This work was acquired directly from Bacon by Michael Peppiatt, a close friend and confidant of the artist, and a leading biographer and curator of his work.
