Entrez en matière(s): Works by Patrick Roger

Christie’s Paris, 12 – 27 January 2017

From 12 January 2017, Christie’s is delighted to present an exceptional exhibit of works by Patrick Roger.

Named France’s top chocolatier in 2000, Patrick Roger began sculpting in chocolate before moving on to bronze, aluminium and silver. His sculptures, with titles including Gossip, Gérard, Sexy, François and Caillou, range from exceptionally small to monumental in size. The artist’s most impressive piece, without doubt, is his Hippos. Executed in 2012, this vast aluminium ensemble measures 25.6 ft x 7.9 ft and weighs 2,000 kg.

The exhibit, which will run from 12 to 27 January at Christie’s Paris, will feature some 50 of Roger’s works, whose poetry is sure to stay with visitors as they explore each room.

Says Patrick Roger, “I entered the Art as we enter in art. Far beyond form, it is the act of transforming, giving birth, shaping the material through the extremity of the gesture and the resurgence of a fascinating humanity.

Christie’s Paris, a global artistic institution, was the obvious setting for this unusual circuit that will unite some 50 of my sculptures.”
