Hamburg | 21 May 2015
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Deichtorhallen Hamburg, the museum is proud to announce an exclusive contemporary art charity art auction on the 21st of May 2015 in cooperation with the society for the promotion of the Deichtorhallen Hamburg.
The JUBILEE ART AUCTION will include 52 selected works by international prestigious artists. The proceeds of the auction will support the Deichtorhallen Hamburg as one of the most significant exhibition venues in Europe and ensure its continuing artful future. International artists like Monica Bonvicini, Robert Longo, Elizabeth Peyton, Cosima von Bonin and Ai WeiWei have each donated works, some of which were especially created for the JUBILEE ART AUCTION. The variety of the Deichtorhallen program is mirrored in the donated works.
The auction will be taken by renowned auctioneers Christiane Gräfin zu Rantzau, Chairman Christie’s Germany and Dirk Boll, Managing Director Christie’s Europe.
The works will be displayed during a Sale Preview from 12th to 20th May 2015 in the foyer of the Hall of Contemporary Art. In addition to that a corresponding (auction) catalogue will list the available works.
The Michael Stich foundation, which was founded in 1994, additionally participates in the auction. As a result of his contacts within the art world, Michael Stich has played a great part in consigning artworks for the sale, the proceeds of which are to benefit the Michael Stich foundation.
