An exhibition of works by
the next generation of artists

London | January 2022

In support of the London-based art community, Christie’s is delighted to announce Next at Christie’s: London 2022, a hybrid — physical and virtual — non-selling exhibition of works by the next generation of artists. Taking place in January 2022 and hosted at our Duke Street Gallery in London, the exhibition will be put together by Pia Zeitzen and Sasha Shevchenko, two talented curators selected from our curator open call.

This initiative offers an exciting opportunity for emerging artists to jumpstart their careers in the art world. To celebrate this occasion, Christie’s Education will run a programme of three courses — Cutting Edge Contemporary Art, The Art of Curation, and From Art School to Art World — offered to the public alongside the exhibition.

Why we are giving this opportunity

At Christie’s, we recognise the value in the emerging local art scene, and our role in supporting it. Next at Christie’s provides talented young artists with the opportunity to exhibit their works at the world’s leading auction house, and to learn more about the art market.

Following our successful curator open call, we are excited to launch the Next at Christie’s: London 2022 artist open call. The open call welcomes all London-based artists — either currently studying or recently graduated, and not represented by a commercial gallery.

Our Next at Christie’s curators, Sasha and Pia, will select between 15 to 30 artists for a two-week exhibition at our Duke Street Gallery. Their concept addresses the absurdity of contemporary reality by allowing the ‘Absurd’ to take over the exhibition's artistic and curatorial expression.

Next at Christie’s: London 2022 will be free entry and open to the public.

The artist open call is now closed. Check back here or follow us on Instagram for more information on the exhibition or for updates on the artist open call.
