Tracy Leipold has appeared projected onto many of Oursler’s video dolls. They met in 1993 in New York, when Oursler was looking for a performer who could ‘cry upon command’, and Leipold was working with an experimental theatre group. ‘Tracey’s face is her instrument’, Oursler has said.
In this work, Leipold’s animalistic mewling and purring is at once humorous and disquieting.
This work is offered in A Visual Odyssey: Selections from LAC (Lambert Art Collection)
