Coming up... 20th Century highlights

The auction highlights in our 20th Century season (15-18 May) span many of the greatest names in art history

Francis Bacon’s Study for Portrait, a tribute to his great love and muse, George Dyer; Kazimir Malevich’s Suprematist Composition, a 1916 canvas that provided a gateway for the evolution of Modernism; the pure, emotional power of Mark Rothko’s No. 7 (Dark over Light)  from 1954; the iconic Double Elvis [Ferus Type]  and Most Wanted Men No. 11, John Joseph H., Jr  by Andy Warhol; Constantin Brancusi’s stunning bronze La jeune fille sophistiquée (Portrait de Nancy Cunard); Le grand déjeuner, a rare masterwork from the 1920s by Fernand Léger. The highlights of our 20th Century  auction season in New York are great and many. 

The week of stellar Impressionist, Modern, Post-War and Contemporary Art sales in New York also features landmark works by Vincent van Gogh, Richard Diebenkorn, and Jeff Koons, and property from esteemed private collections, including The Collection of Elizabeth Stafford, The Collection of Joan and Preston Robert Tisch, and The Collection of Brad Grey.

The 20th Century  season opens with the Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale  on 15 May, continues on 16 May with the Impressionist and Modern Art Works on Paper  and Day  sales, before the Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale  on 17 May. The week concludes with the Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session  and Afternoon Session  on 18 May. Highlights are currently on show in our Rockefeller Center galleries.
