Specialising in Northern European art of the 20th and 21st centuries, our Amsterdam sales of Post-War and Contemporary Art go from strength to strength. Our 14–15 April auction sold 98% of lots by value. Led by Günther Uecker’s 1986 Nagelrelief, and the sale’s strong focus on the Zero group saw a number of world record prices set for artists from this movement, including Otto Piene whose Untitled (Rasterbild) realised €553,500, far in excess of its €120,000–180,000 pre-sale estimate. Works by the CoBrA group also attracted competitive bidding, with Karel Appel’s Deux Personnages selling for €385,500, alongside other European artists such as Joseph Beuys, Gerhard Richter, Marcel Broodthaers and Wim Delvoye.
