Curated by Christie’s specialists, The Collector is a new series of auctions dedicated to the art of living. These three major decorative arts sales bring together extraordinary pieces — from ornate Louis XIV clocks to Romantic bronzes — by the most renowned artists and craftsmen from the 17th to the 19th century.
On 15 November, the English Furniture, Clocks & Works of Art sale encompasses a wide variety of objects dating from the 17th to the 18th century, while the European Furniture, Works of Art & Ceramics auction represents work from some of the most notable artists and designers of the 18th and early 19th century, comprising a curated selection of fine French and continental furniture, objets d’art and clocks, as well as ormolu-mounted porcelain and hard stone.
A day later, on 16 November, the Silver, 19th Century Furniture, Sculpture and Works of Art sale is led by silver from four centuries and pieces with royal and aristocratic provenance, as well as a selection of 19th-century furniture and works of art drawn from the opulent interiors of Belle Époque Paris and America’s Gilded Age.
