Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds Including Oriental Rugs and Carpets

London· 31 March

Christie’s is pleased to announce the spring edition of Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds Including Oriental Rugs and Carpets, offering a treasure trove of rare objects, paintings, manuscripts and carpets from across the Middle East, India and Europe. This season we invite Anita Lal, Founder and Creative Director of Good Earth, as tastemaker to curate this viewing room, using styled moodboards that bring together her favourite pieces from the sale and exquisite designs by Good Earth. The collaboration inspires compelling interior narratives that strike the perfect balance between historic craftsmanship and contemporary living.

Good Earth is India’s leading luxury design house that celebrates the heritage of the Indian subcontinent and the syncretic cultural influences of the East and the West. Good Earth designs are original, contemporary and whimsical, yet rooted in tradition and focus on sustainability and craft traditions. Their homewares are highly sought-after internationally by interior designers and decorators. Follow Anita Lal as she takes you behind the scenes to her Delhi residence, and share her insights into sustainable luxury living.

‘Embroidered suzanis of Central Asia have a distinct vocabulary and are a great source of design inspiration. A large dramatic suzani like this, with its shades of coral, red and indigo, would enrich and enliven any interior space.’

Exquisite centrepieces and candle stands by Good Earth
‘For me what makes this carpet precious is that the stylised floral butahs woven into this Agra carpet mirror the butahs carved in marble and inlayed with precious stones on the Taj Mahal in Agra.’
