A 360-degree preview of Christie’s 3 October sale, offering the best of these two key categories of the 20th and 21st centuries
On 3 October in London, Christie’s Frieze Week season kicks off with Masterpieces of Design and Photography, a new evening auction showcasing the best of these complementary categories.
Featuring the major names of the 20th and 21st centuries, such as Diane Arbus, Gilbert & George, Andreas Gursky, Allen Jones, Finn Juhl, Robert Mapplethorpe, Carlo Mollino, Marc Newson, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, Gio Ponti, Jean Prouvé, Gerrit Rietveld and Thomas Struth, the auction offers exciting opportunities for both new and established collectors.
The range of works ‘underlines the extraordinary expansion of creativity from 1875 to the present’, says Francis Outred, Chairman and Head of Post-War and Contemporary Art at Christie’s in London. ‘It’s really a survey of the last 150 years in these two great fields.’
