Sell with Christie’s: Post-War and Contemporary Art

Christie's has seen extraordinary results for Post-War and Contemporary Art in 2016, our 250th anniversary year, confirming the strength of the global market in this dynamic category.

Christie's dominates the Post-War and Contemporary Art market, leading global auction totals in the category for 11 of the past 13 years. In 2016, Christie's achieved an overall sale total of £794.4 million for our Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening and Day Auctions in London and New York.

In June, the Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Auction in London achieved sell-through rates of 92% by lot and 98% by value. Our October auctions during London's Frieze Week achieved £91,092,925 million. The Leslie Waddington Collection also saw exceptional sell-through rates of 100% by lot and 100% by value. In 2016, 29 records were realised in London for iconic artists including Bridget Riley, Joseph Beuys, Pino Pascali, Thomas Schütte, Adrien Ghenie, Albert Oehlen and Gerald Laing.

Following these successes, we are now inviting consignments to our upcoming Post-War and Contemporary Art auctions, to be held in London in March 2017. Consignments will be accepted through January. Please do not hesitate to contact us for a free and confidential valuation, or to discuss the market.
