Pablo Picasso's Buste de Françoise, 1946, sold for £10,681,250 at the Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale in London on 21 June 2011. A portrait of Françoise Gilot, the artist and author who became Picasso’s lover in the 1940s and with whom he had two of his children, it was offered at auction for the first time from the Estate of Ernst Beyeler, the legendary Swiss art dealer.
