Meteorites are natural objects that have fallen to Earth from space. Varying in size and form, they often display irregular shapes and darkened, fusion-crusted surfaces shaped by their passage through the atmosphere. Composed of iron, stone or a combination of both, each example differs in appearance and internal structure.
Meteorites are the oldest objects offered for sale at Christie’s, with some dated to around 4.5 billion years old. Prized for both their scientific significance and visual appeal, they are viewed by many as rare works of art from outer space.
