Luminous Path, a philanthropic selling exhibition taking place in New York from 18–30 June, marks our third partnership with Civil Art. Supported by Christie’s Social Responsibility Committee, the exhibition brings together artists across generations and cultures whose works engage with light as both a material condition and a conceptual device.

Featuring works by API artists including Dabin Ahn, Arghavan Khosravi, Maia Ruth Lee, Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya and many more, Luminous Path explores how illumination has long served as a means of understanding the world around us and our place within it. Across painting, sculpture and mixed media, the exhibition considers themes of identity, memory, resilience, transformation and belonging.

Organised in support of Apex for Youth, Luminous Path advances shared goals of cultural engagement, community impact and cross-sector collaboration. Through this partnership, Christie’s and Civil Art create a platform where art serves as a catalyst for dialogue, opportunity and collective empowerment.

Curated by Aleesa Pitchamarn Alexander, Kathy Huang, Peter Kahng, Ho Jae Kim and Carla Shen.

Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit participating artists, Civil Art and Apex for Youth.

Post-War & Contemporary Art

Rachel Ng is a Specialist in the Post-War & Contemporary Art department in New York. She began her career at Christie’s in August 2017 as a researcher for the Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale. Prior to returning to Christie’s in April 2019, she worked at a gallery focused on emerging contemporary art. Currently on the 20th Century Evening Sale team, Rachel assists the department with business-getting, strategy, appraisals and valuations, marketing, research, and building client relationships. In addition to a specialized focus on Post-War art, her interests lie in amplifying the voices of emerging and diverse artists, particularly through charitable auction and sale initiatives. Originally from Los Angeles, Rachel earned her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Columbia University.

Post-War & Contemporary Art

Elena Ferrara is the Regional Managing Director for 20th and 21st Century Art, Americas, based in New York. She began her career at Christie’s in 2018 in the Chairman’s Office supporting the Chairman, Americas and President, Americas. Since 2022, Elena has worked across the Post-War & Contemporary and Impressionist & Modern departments as a member of the business management team, focusing on the strategic coordination and execution of the departments’ Marquee Week sales. Additionally, Elena chairs Christie’s Employee Initiatives group, which champions charitable exhibitions and partnerships across the company.

Maya Manaktala supports Responsible Culture for Christie’s Americas, including The Christie’s Fund and Social Responsibility divisions.

Maya began her career at Christie’s near the beginning of 2023, since she has cultivated internal and external engagement platforms. Maya develops and leads Responsible Culture programming in the Americas region. With background in Social Work, Sociology, and Intergroup Relations from Skidmore College, she utilizes her experience and expertise to achieve strategic growth within the realm of Philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Civil Art


Founded in 2022, Civil Art, fiscally sponsored (Player’s Philanthropy Fund) 501(c)(3) non-profit organization & principal exhibitor, empowers the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community by making the contributions of API creatives (across multiple disciplines including visual and performance art, design, culinary arts, literature, and curatorial scholarship) accessible to a wider demographic through educational programming, editorial platform, community gatherings, and other events. Civil Art’s public programming highlights the way in which the contributions of API creatives communicate cultural narratives, including by employing themes that speak to the multiplicity of the API community’s identity. This programming accordingly raises awareness of the community’s diverse histories while fostering opportunities for intra-community connection, understanding, and further creative development.

Apex for Youth


Apex for Youth empowers Asian American youth from low-income and immigrant backgrounds to unlock their potential and a world of possibility. We achieve this by cultivating positive self-identity through transformative relationships with adults and their communities. Through programming focusing on health and well-being, education, and community engagement, our volunteers support and mentor students of all ages to help them develop a vision for their future. We are in active pursuit of a better life for our youth and our community.
