MARKED FABERGÉ WITH THE IMPERIAL WARRANT, WITH THE WORKMASTER'S MARK OF JULIUS RAPPOPORT, ST PETERSBURG, 1899-1903
Of architectural form, the clock circular with white enamel dial and black Arabic chapters, within a chased berried laurel below a ribbon-twist and flanked by two leaf-wrapped pinecones, set on a semi-circular base supported by three columns with laurel-chased capitals enclosing the standing figure of a Life Guard Dragoon with a plumed shako and sabre, on semi-circular rouge griotte marble plinth set with silver presentation plaque inscribed in Russian 'To Dear Prince Nikolai Valerievich Urusov Comrades from the Life Guard Dragoons 7th August 1879 - 1st July 1907', the back of the clock engraved with subscribers' names, marked on columns and bases

Descriptif du lot

Major-General Prince Nicholas Valerievich Urusov (1860-1912) spent most of his military career in the Life Guard Dragoons, going on to take command of the 17th Chernigovsky Hussar Regiment between 1907 and 1909. In 1912, he was also the commander of the second Brigade of the 9th Cavalry division.
