F.E. Fitness was Brangwyn's tailor and a part-time antiques dealer who helped find many items for the artist's house, The Jointure, Ditchling. He also gained for Brangwyn the commission for a memorial window at the Congregational Church, Northampton in 1921.
We are grateful to Dr Libby Horner for her assistance in preparing this catalogue entry. The oil is number O-0362 in her catalogue raisonné.
