Descriptif du lot

This meticulously drawn landscape drawing can be ascribed to Carl Heinrich Aster, an artist and artillery officer. The drawing is mounted on a larger sheet of paper bearing the date and the name of the artist, and indicating that he copied the landscape from nature. Interestingly, another inscription is visible on the drawing, at lower center, alluding to a second artist, E. Reichard, responsible for ‘inking’ the drawing. Aster published several illustrated books on warfare, yet little is known of his activities as an artist.
