Descriptif du lot
Alexis, Paris, December 1970 provides a unique snapshot of Hockney’s life in the early 1970s. The portrait depicts Alexis Vidal, and is dedicated to Vidal’s partner Jean Léger, who was a designer for Helena Rubenstein. Léger met Hockney in London in 1967, and the two quickly became close friends, with Léger appearing in various drawings made by Hockney between 1970 and 1973. When visiting Paris during this period, Hockney would stay with the couple in their apartment on the Rue de Seine.
