Descriptif du lot
The Saxonia has always been the clearest expression of Lange's design ethos: symmetrical, understated, and devoted to the essentials. The Outsize Date, introduced at SIHH in 2018, brought the big date back to the Saxonia line as a spiritual successor to the original 1994 Saxonia, which had also placed the outsize date at noon with small seconds below.
The launch offered white gold and pink gold cases, both with glossy black dials and matching black date discs. The layout is rigorously symmetrical: hours and minutes central, small seconds at six, and the twin-aperture date at twelve. The digits are roughly three times larger than those on a conventional watch, a lineage tracing back to the Dresden Semper Opera clock created by Ferdinand Adolph Lange's mentor.
At 38.5mm in diameter, it wears like a proper dress watch—elegant and versatile enough for daily use. For the collector who wants a Lange that is both serious watchmaking and genuinely wearable, the Saxonia Outsize Date is a compelling choice.
