According to Mark Twain, life is for living, and who could argue with that?

In this month’s interview, you will see that Alice Bailey, Head of Sale of Islamic Art, traveled the world fulfilling her passion for Islamic Art – living in Istanbul, studying in Canada and London and working at the world famous British Museum and the V&A Museum. The Indian & Islamic Works of Art & Textiles sale itself features the Collection of the Late Djafar Ghazi, who traveled the world seeking out manuscripts and calligraphies, ultimately creating one of the finest collections in the world.

Of course, you will need some help to navigate your way around the globe in search of your passion and what better than a 17th century Ivory diptych dial – which serves as a compass and sundial – in our Travel, Science & Natural History sale. Well, perhaps you might need something a little more high tech but then, where’s the fun in that?

We look forward to seeing you at Christie’s South Kensington this April.

Hugh Edmeades
CHAIRMAN, CHRISTIE’S SOUTH KENSINGTON.
