This Summer, at Christie’s King Street salerooms in London, we prepare to exhibit and offer works of art in some of our most distinguished and sought-after collecting categories.

Here, in particular, I invite you to read more about our inaugural Evening and Day sales on 7-8 July marking the launch in London of our new international sale category: Old Masters and 19th Century Art. This important new movement creates a platform celebrating the work of artists drawn from the great European classical tradition across a rich 600 year period. This July, among the many highlights we present Marieschi’s inspiring scene of the Doge’s Palace in Venice with Saint Mark’s Basilica in the background, evoking a golden age in Venice’s history.
Whether it is a lively Constantinople market scene or a seminal watercolour by the British artist John Frederick Lewis, the Orientalist Art Sale on 9 July captures the distinctive architecture, flavour and aesthetic of the Orient captured by artists who both traveled and lived there during the years of the 19th century. Highly evocative, it remains a sale of enduring appeal that attracts collectors from around the world.

Let me take this opportunity to wish you an enjoyable and restful summer and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you to Christie’s.

Yours sincerely,
Edward Dolman
Chief Executive Officer
