Overview:
The Impressionist & Modern Art evening sale celebrates a splendid range of works, including Maurice de Vlaminck's Péniche sur la Seine, one of the greatest pictures from the height of the Fauvist years; Claude Monet's Matinée sur la Seine près de Giverny; Pablo Picasso's spectacular 1901 self-portrait Yo Picasso; and a superb group of René Magritte 's works from the collection of Arlette Magritte, the niece of the artist.

The Impressionist & Modern Art day sale is highlighted by a sumptuous Henri Le Sidaner still-life, La table, harmonie rouge; a rare and monumental Aristide Maillol bronze, La pensée; and Pablo Picasso's exciting 1922 composition, Verre et compotier, which the family of the present owner purchased directly from the artist in the 1920s.

Major pieces in the Works on Paper sale include Renoir's beautiful portrait of Marie-Louise Durand-Ruel, commissioned by the girl's father, Joseph; Vincent van Gogh's The Beach at Scheveningen created in 1882; van Dongen's La Reussite from a spectacular collection of eight works by the artist; Marc Chagall's Couple de maries et coq; and Picasso's fascinating post-Cubist still-life, Compotier avec fruits.
