The Octa Perpétuelle was the first ever F.P. Journe perpetual calendar wristwatch. The present watch bears the number 75 from the strictly limited series of 99 pieces worldwide in titanium made to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the F.P. Journe Tokyo boutique. In outstanding condition, it is accompanied by the full set of accessories.
F. P. Journe’s special edition boutique anniversary timepieces were created in appreciation of the clients of the brand’s worldwide boutiques. These highly exclusive and almost impossible to obtain watches were made in very small limited editions that were reserved for only the boutiques most loyal customers, each being personally approved by Mr. Journe. Boutique Editions such as the present Octa Perpétuelle have a completely different aesthetic to regular production pieces, regarded as the most beautiful versions, they are immediately recognizable by connoisseurs as Journe timepieces of the highest status.
The very attractive combination of the titanium case, a metal rarely used by F.P. Journe, with pink gold detailing is completed by the ruthenium plated gold dial, always a favourite and sought after colour among Journe enthusiasts. The Octa Perpétuelle was based on the Octa Calendrier but with the calendar mechanism upgraded from an annual to a perpetual calendar. The famous large retrograde date sector and apertures for the day and month of the Octa Calendrier were retained and ingeniously, a leap year indication was included which is only revealed when the month of February is displayed. A further addition to the model is the pusher at 8 o’clock for quick change of the months. The Octa Perpétuelle is powered by the automatic Calibre 1300.3 in solid 18K rose gold.
Demonstrating François-Paul Journe’s close rapport with Japanese collectors and patrons of the brand, this beautiful perpetual calendar watch was released to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the opening of the Aoyama boutique in Tokyo, within a building designed by Tadao Ando. The Tokyo boutique, opened in September 2003, was François-Paul Journe's very first brand-owned boutique, breaking industry convention by choosing a direct retail model rather than traditional third-party distributors.
