在傳統中國家庭中為最常使用之桌案即為方桌，其形制對於用餐﹑娛樂﹑工作及擺設均相當實用。本拍品使用霸王棖，取代一般較常見的羅鍋棖。可參考一黃花梨有束腰霸王棖方桌，於紐約佳士得中國古典家具博物館館藏拍賣拍出，1996年9月19日，拍品編號65。另一例為安思遠舊藏之黃花梨霸王棖方桌，現藏堪薩斯市納爾遜美術館。
