With browned twist octagonal sighted barrel cut with three broad shallow grooves and with wide rib bearing the sights and signed in Gothic script 'T.E. Mortimer. Edinburgh. late St. James St. London', the blued folding back-sight (hinge loose) graduated to 700 yards, case-hardened patent breech engraved with a tiger-head and with pierced platinum plug, case-hardened tang finely engraved with scrollwork, signed case-hardened detented lock finely engraved with stags and hinds in a landscape, and with engraved hammer and safety-catch (mainspring detached), figured walnut half-stock (some bruising), chequered pistol-grip and fore-end, raised cheek-piece, blued iron mounts finely engraved with scrollwork, circular patch-box cover engraved with a stag and a hind, case-hardened trigger-plate with pineapple finial, gold escutcheon engraved with owner's crest, initials 'AC', and motto, iron sling mounts, horn fore-end cap, orignal brass-mounted ramrod, and much original finish (some minor rust-spotting and pitting), London proof marks
