Lot Essay

This plate features scalloped edges trimmed in gold and bordered in blue with garlands of corn and goldenrod, the President's favorite flower, all rendered in gold. In the central portion of the plate a white surface displays a surround of forty gold stars, symbolic of the states, with the arms of the United States in the middle.
