Lot Essay

Daniel Hernandez, Peruvian (1856-1932)

The original upon which the present subject is based was painted by Hernandez in 1899 and exhibited at the Paris Salon of that year (no. 980). It was later brought for sale at Christie's, New York, 22 April 2004, lot 171.
