A blue double-lipped wine-glass rinser
of cylindrical form and enriched in gilding with the Royal coat-of-arms and the Royal cypher GR beneath a crown beneath a richly-gilt rim and border of anthemion and other stylised flower and foliage ornament, the Garter Star beneath each lip, perhaps by Isaac Jacobs, Bristol, circa 1805 (slight rubbing to gilding) -- 13cm. wide

Lot Essay

While it has not been possible to trace a Royal commission for a blue glass service with this decoration, the use of Royal emblems would suggest a likely association with King George III and Queen Charlotte.
