This form of coffee-pot was made for the Turkish market, and descriptions of Türckisch Coffe Krügel appear in the early inventories of the factory's products. For a similar example without a cover see Stefan Bursche, Meissen Steinzeug und Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts, Kunstgewerbemuseum, Berlin, no. 9. For an example in the State Collection, Dresden, with a domed cover and 'black' glaze simulating lacquer with gilt decoration, see Dirk Syndram and Ulrike Weinhold (ed.), Exhibition Catalogue Böttger Stoneware, Johann Friedrich Böttger and Treasury Art, Grünes Gewölbe, Dresden, 2009, p. 134, Ill.50, Cat.-No. 10. Another example was sold in these Rooms on 3 December 1984, lot 309 (with a crescent and pendant), and another on 25 November 1991, lot 345.
