After Giambologna, early 17th century
On a later rectangular multi-coloured marble base, with a paper label inscribed '#20 4-8-'96'.
Dark brown patina with reddish brown high points; very minor dents.
7 5/8 in. (19.4 cm.) high

Lot Essay

Giambologna (1529-1698), court sculptor to the Medici, was famed for his depictions of animals, either in combat or repose. The present bronze is the rarer of two types of bulls attributed to the master. For a discussion of the two types, see C.
