A Buen Retiro white biscuit group of the rape of the Sabines
Circa 1780
Modelled with a Roman soldier in full armour, his helmet with an eagle's head and wing, carrying off a Sabine woman and trampling over a fallen Sabine soldier, the Sabine woman with her head back and arms flung out in horror, the fallen soldier desperately holding onto the bottom of her robe, the reverse with Cupid perched on a tree-stump, a quiver at his side and drawing his bow, on a grassy mound and high circular plinth base (Sabine woman's right foot to be restuck, damage to her right hand, further damages and restorations)
