SIGNED SULTAN 'ALI MASHHADI, TIMURID HERAT, EARLY 16TH CENTURY
Persian mansucript on paper, with 6ll. of flowing black nasta'liq written diagonally and a further 2ll. in two columns written along to the left hand side, with two triangles and three rectangles of gold and polychrome later illumination surrounding the text, one such triangular panel framing the signature of Sultan 'Ali Mashhadi in a cloud reserved against the illuminated ground, laid down within gold and polychrome rules on gold sprinkled pink paper
Calligraphy 4¼ x 2 1/8in. (10.8 x 5.4cm.)
