A CARVED IVORY RUYI SCEPTRE
18TH CENTURY
The shaft is intricately carved in high relief with a figurative landscape in which European 'foreigners' wind their way up a rocky mountain path towards a secluded pavilion wheeling a cart of vases, together with a camel and an elephant carrying tribute, the reverse is carved with a group of spotted deer below a pine tree resting by a river bordered by linghzhi fungus, the upper section is carved with cranes in flight amongst clouds above a pavilion and a river, three green composite carved plaques, a silk tassle is attached to the sceptre, silk base, wood stand, and glass case.
