Signed Joseph Manton, Hanover Square, London, circa 1820
Converted from flintlock, with twist barrels inscribed 'Joseph Manton. Hanover Square. London' on the rib, engraved patent breeches each with three platinum lines, engraved locks, figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, iron mounts including trigger-guard with pineapple finial, silver escutcheon, and brass-capped ramrod with worm: in lined and fitted mahogany case for a d.b. flintlock gun, the lid with Joseph Manton trade label of circa 1810-1812, the exterior with flush-fitting carrying handle and circular escutcheon engraved with two crests and the initials 'CHT' (gun and case in poor condition with numerous defects), London proof marks
