A CENTRAL EUROPEAN SILVER AND SILVER GILT CHESS SET, 18th century

Of bust type, the opposing side heightened in polychrome, the kings holding swords, the queens with sceptres, the bishops with flat brimmed hats, the knights as seahorses, the rooks of turret form, the pawns as soldiers with tricorn hats, with a gilt tooled leather games box, the board enclosed by a hinged cover, with fitted frieze drawers to the sides, lined in paper
