A DANISH SILVER PEG TANKARD
MARK OF NIELS GERTSEN THORBRÜGGER, JYLLAND, CIRCA 1730
Cylindrical, on three pomegranate feet, the body later chased with scenes of an army before a city, engraved with an inscription below a coronet and within foliate scrolls, the scroll handle with vacant shield at base, the cover with pine-cone thumbpiece and foliate band, inset with a coin dated 1677 and engraved with an inscription, marked underneath with maker's mark only twice
6½ in. (16 cm.) high
19 oz. (575 gr.)
The inscription on the body reads 'Nis Jörgensen Möller Maren Matz Daatter, 1760.'

The inscription the cover reads 'Iwer Andersen Gamst Christense Peders Datter FG 1728.'
