A DEEP CELADON JADE APPLIQUE IN THE FORM OF A BIRD, LATE SHANG/WESTERN ZHOU (1600-771BC)
with heavy white alteration to stone, the flattened carving with pointed beak and rounded breast with incised grooves representing wing and tail feathers, two drill holes to breast and to the tip of raised comb to the nape of the birds neck; a deep celadon jade applique in the form of a cormorant, with heavy ivory-white alterations, with long curled neck, the head gently resting on the large rounded protruding breast, with incised eye and foot detailing, a drill hole to the edge of the breast, Western Zhou (1100-771BC); a light-green jade bead in the form of a tortoise shell, with areas of white alteration, the hollowed bead incised and modelled realistically, the underbelly with incised vertical lines, the top of the shell with distinctive circular markings; a further celadon bead modelled as a tortoise shell, also with ivory white alteration, of a squarer shape than the former, the top of the shell realised with a crossed hatchwork design, 2nd Millenium BC; and a bead in the form of a spiralling cone, completely altered in colour -- The first 2in.
