This extremely well-hollowed and detailed example is an unusually dynamic version of the 'moss agate type,' the markings implying a powerful evocation of fish and drifting aquatic flora. For a bottle in very similar material, see L. S. Perry, Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Adventures and Studies of a Collector, Rutland, Vermont, 1960, p. 65, no. 46. See, also, another example in similar material illustrated in R. Kleiner, Treasures from the Sanctum of Enlightened Respect: Chinese Snuff Bottles for the Collection of Denis Low, Singapore, 1999, no. 176.
