A Desktop Clock And Barometer Set
Anonymous, French, Late 19th century.
A clock and barometer set mounted side by side on an anchor, each with a white face. The clock with Roman numerals, black steel hands and the minutes marked off in Arabic numerals. The keywind and speed adjustment are located behind the back cover. The barometer is marked "Aneroid Barometer" and it shows the varying weather conditions for the reading. Between the clock and barometer is mounted a thermometer on a German silver scale. The anchor is mounted on a dark piece of stone which is mounted on a brass base. Each instrument is surrounded by brass rope work, and there is additional brass rope around the flukes, shaft and top which completes a "fouled anchor" motif.
9 x 7 in. (22.8 x 17.8 cm.), On stand.
