A Dutch set of a coin balance in fruitwood box
Possibly Jacob Drielenburgh, Amsterdam, circa 1671
Comprising a steel beam, pointer and copper pans, one circular, one triangular, with later green silk cord, contained in compartmentalised case with floral decorations, the inside lid with paper label decorated with an illustration of a cartouche, with Gemaakt door Iacob Drielenburgh Woont inde Halsteech Int Gout Gewight t' Amsterdam, flanked by illustrations of Justitia and Conscientia, functioning as a slide lid revealing ten brass weights, the case containing nineteen brass weights in fitted compartments and a small slide lid compartment, a further fitted side-drawer opens to reveal another fifteen weights
