This form, rare in famille rose enamels during the Qianlong period, is even more unusual in the famille verte palette. Famille rose examples include the cockerel tureen and cover in the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, illustrated by W. Sargent, The Copeland Collection, Salem, 1991, pp. 209-211, no. 101; another in the John T. Dorrance, Jr. Collection, sold Sotheby's New York, 20 and 21 October 1989, lot 455; the example made for the Basque family of Asteguieta, sold Christie's, London, 16 March 1981, lot 69; and the tureen sold Christie's, London, 15 November 2000, lot 259.
