A fan signed F. Sulzer,
the charming paper fan, painted with vignettes of three ladies and a boy in Swiss regional costume, the boy holding a bow, and one lady a bird's nest, a miniature vignette of a shepherdess, another of a haymaking scene, with two spyholes, of catgut, one a birdcage, the other a hanging basket, the borders painted with butterflies, a spidersweb, flowers and insects, inscribed Peint & monte par F. Sulzer au Rossignol a Winterthur, the verso with the other side of the birdcage and basket, a butterfly and sprigs of flowers, the bone sticks silvered - 10.5in. (26cm.), Swiss, circa 1780
