A table of this unusual form and also bearing the label of Holmes Weaver of Newport is referenced in Hewitt, et. al., The Work of Many Hands (New Haven, 1982), p. 62. Both tables have pentagonal single-taper legs, and, given the rarity of the form and the Holmes Weaver labels on both tables, the example referenced in by Hewitt may be the mate to this example. The fragment of label present on the rear fly rail of this table is identical to a paper-and-ink label present on a serpentine chest of drawers illustrated in Ruth Ralston "Holmes Weaver, Cabinet- and Chairmaker of Newport", The Magazine Antiques (February, 1942) pp. 133-134
