Crisply moulded as a single lotus flower-head with three registers of overlapping petals with curled edges encircling the central seed pod, the reverse with stylised plantain leaves rising from the base inscribed with the numeral jiu, nine, enamelled in bright tones of blue, yellow, aubergine and green

Compare with a Beijing enamel tray bearing a Kangxi mark of similar form included in the National Palace Museum, Taibei, Special Exhibition, Enamel Ware in the Ming and Ch'ing Dynasties, illustrated in the Catalogue, 1999, no. 94. The underside of the tray is enamelled in contrasting yellow and blue tones to represent a large lotus flower head, the overlapping petals with curled edges.
