The flaring cylindrical cup above vase-form stem with cherub's masks and applied beaded-scroll brackets, on tiered circular foot, the domed cover with figural finial on spool-form socle applied with similar brackets, the cover, cup, and foot repoussé and chased with fruit and foliage within strapwork against a matted ground, the cover with tongue-and-dart border, the cup engraved near rim with an English Baron's coat-of-arms and coronet, the foot with faint scratch-engraved name, marked on rim of cup and on foot

Lot Essay
The arms are those of Astley, Barons Hastings, of Norfolk, probably for Sir Jacob Astley, 6th baronet (1797-1859), who succeeded as 16th Baron Hastings in 1841.
