bearing marks resembling the maker's mark of Jean-Marie Tiron, resembling the Paris date-letter 'A' for 1764/1765, resembling the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prevost 1762-1768 and with two later Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold
Rectangular box, the cover, four sides and base set with gold panels engraved with a quatrefoil pattern on vertical chevron bands, each panel inlaid with boldly carved and engraved plaques of mother-of-pearl, abalone shell and ivory depicting tabagie scenes of merrymaking and drinking peasants in the manner of Teniers, the gold borders engraved with flowers and foliage on chevron bands, slighty raised thumbpiece, the base with wavy flanges
