A FINE TEADUST-GLAZED VASE
Qianlong incised seal mark and of the period (1736-1795)
The compressed body raised on a spreading foot and surrounded by a tall neck, covered overall with a finely speckled glaze of deep olive tone thinning to tortoiseshell on the mouth rim, the seal mark also covered with a tortoiseshell glaze and the bottom of the foot dressed with a dark brown wash

A similar vase of this size in the Victoria and Albert Museum is illustrated by R. Kerr, Chinese Ceramics, Porcelain of the Qing Dynasty, 1644 - 1911, London, 1986, no. 25; and another is illustrated by R. Krahl, Chinese Ceramics in the Meiyintang Collection, vol. 2, London, 1994, pp. 256-7, no. 936. Compare, also, the vase from a private Hawaiian collection and formerly in the T.Y.
