A FINE WHITE JADE DOUBLE-GOURD WATER-COUPE AND A SPOON
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)

The double-gourd vessel is well carved in high relief with a short twisted stem on the head of the gourd and a bat straddling the waisted mid-section, the lower body carved in low relief with another bat flying amidst cloud-scrolls, all raised on three short conical feet, the semi-translucent stone of an even white tone with areas of inclusion incorporated into the carved design; the metal spoon with a white jade curved handle carved with a dragon's head, with a pearl clasped in its mouth
