Edo period (19th century), the first with signature Takanori saku and with kakihan (cursive monogram); the second with signature Shokasai and Shibayama on inlaid shell reserve
The first designed in takamaki-e and hiramaki-e in gold, silver, black and red lacquer and inlaid shell with a Chinese boy and Shijo school-style puppy among morning glories next to a stream, the grasses and ground highlighted in kirigane and nashiji, interior nashiji; fitted with soft-metal ojime with ducks on a stream and an ivory netsuke of a puppy reclining on a straw mat, with signature Gyokuyosai; the second decorated in gold, silver, red and black takamaki-e and hiramaki-e on a kinji ground with Ebisu and Daitoku performing a dance, their faces and hands inlaid in ivory and their clothes embellished with nashiji, interior nashiji
