This bureau plat, with its distinctive female terms and Bacchic masks to the either end, is after the renowned model by Charles Cressent. An example is in the collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, and another was sold from the Ojjeh collection, Christie's, Monaco, 11 December 1999, lot 53. The model was popular through the 19th century, and was reproduced with some frequency by numerous makers.
